The guitar parts were all overdubbed direct to computer in post production. The focus of the mix is the drum and bass parts. There was also some editing :)

Highlights of the trip

	* Fresh Pulled Noodles in the Xi'An market
	* Pow Mua (sp?) soup in the Muslim quarter of Xi'An (More garlic and broth please)
	* Shopping for silk
	* Watching people dodge traffic

Last weekend decided to see if I could get some decent simple drum sounds out of my Mac. Cubase requires an external midi device but GarageBand has this pop-up keyboard that maps to the actual computer keyboard. Setting = Rock Drums or something. Had this idea floating around for sometime, and I have not quite been able to communicate the actual feel of the idea. This was the big opportunity... and here is the first mix:

What to do with 3 dimarzio tapped stratocaster pickups? What would be a good way to prototype for alternate wiring possibilities on a stratocaster? What if we put these pickups on a modified jazzmaster body? (This would work on a strat also but jazzmasters are awesome!) Hmmm...

The Harmony is outfitted with GFS Crunchy PAF chrome covered humbuckers. Last month I swapped the ceramic magnets with AlNiCo 8 ones. This inspiration came from a 1977 Ibanez Les Paul Copy. Those pickups are wound to about 7k resistance (both the neck and bridge, pretty evenly) with AlNiCo 8 magnets. I noticed that they are brighter with a boingier, more dynamic, musical quality. The GFS Crunchy PAFs are wound to about 10k neck and 14k for the bridge. Out of the box they have a thi…
